SAP launches Joule Desktop and Autonomous Enterprise platform

SAP announced at Connect 2026 that its Autonomous Enterprise architecture, introduced in May, is now generally available alongside Joule Work and Joule Desktop. Joule, SAP's generative AI assistant, is evolving from an in-app chat tool into a full-screen agentic layer that works across SAP and non-SAP applications. Rather than replacing human oversight, the system lets users observe, govern, and audit agents before delegating tasks. SAP's chief product officer Manoj Swaminathan emphasized that the platform uses structured knowledge graphs and ERP semantics that general-purpose models from OpenAI and Anthropic cannot replicate on enterprise data alone.
