OpenAI Opens Decisions API to All Users
OpenAI has made its Decisions API widely available, entering the fast-growing market for cheap, rapid decision models pioneered by TypeSafe's Jev. Rather than building a purpose-trained model, OpenAI reconfigured its ChatGPT Luna model to reduce inference time from one to three seconds down to 100-180 milliseconds. Announced at its September 29 developer day, the API now includes voice and visual modalities and geographically targeted inference. Early customers like Speak cut response times from 1.4 seconds to 0.13 seconds. OpenAI ranks eighth and fourteenth on major public benchmarks, while TypeSafe's Jev remains the most widely queried on OpenRouter.
