Moonshot AI releases Kimi K3.1 Pro with 3T parameters

Moonshot AI has launched Kimi K3.1 Pro, a post-trained large language model built on its July Kimi K3 release, which features 896 neural networks with 3 trillion parameters but activates only 16 at a time to reduce inference costs. The model scored 92.7% on the BenchCAD 3D modeling benchmark and outperformed GPT-6 Astra on Terminal-Bench 4.0 coding tests, though it trails both Astra and Claude Opus 5.5 on cybersecurity benchmarks due to deliberate removal of vulnerability-related training data. Kimi K3.1 Pro is available via paid cloud services now, with open-source weights planned by November 4.
