Nvidia's Vera Rubin delivers 10x efficiency gains
Nvidia has unveiled major performance benchmarks for its next-generation Vera Rubin platform, with partner CoreWeave demonstrating 10 times more tokens per watt running DeepSeek's R1 model compared to the previous Blackwell-based system. The Vera CPU also showed 1.9 times faster agentic performance and nearly doubled AMD's EPYC Turin on select benchmarks. Beyond raw chip performance, Nvidia highlighted its hardware-software co-design strategy, enabling 40% more GPUs within the same power envelope and significant networking gains. The announcements come ahead of AMD's annual product event and as Nvidia races to ship Vera Rubin systems to major customers including Google, Microsoft, Meta, and OpenAI.
Nvidia times these benchmarks to steal AMD's headlines before Thursday's product event.
