Datagrom Magic Surfboards For Cloud Data Science & Machine Learning Platforms

Gartner has a Magic Quadrant for Data Science and Machine Learning Platforms. Forrester has The Forrester Wave for Multimodal Predictive Analytics And Machine Learning. We thought we’d add to the conversation by combining our passion for data and surfing to create Magic Surfboards. What makes Magic Surfboards a little different, is that it focuses on user fit.

What do surfing, data science & machine learning have in common?

  1. Platform: You need a complete platform underneath you both to ride waves successfully, and to deliver machine learning projects. Any platform can be the perfect fit depending on the use case. Platforms can also be pieced together. These Magic Surfboards only consider the data science & machine learning platforms from the top cloud vendors: Microsoft Azure Machine Learning, Amazon AWS SageMaker, and Google Cloud AI Platform.

  2. Skill: In order to be successful, both require that you select a platform which meets your level of skill. Experts can effectively ride every board and work on any AI platform. Novices will greatly struggle to get anywhere on both an expert shortboard, and expert AI platform.

  3. Adoption: When selecting a platform, like a surfboard, early adopters may choose the newest technology, while mainstream customers may prefer a more seasoned option.

To emphasize, it means little to claim that one surfboard (or cloud AI platform) is “better” or “worse” than any other. They are different tools for different conditions and customers.

Magic Surfboards for Cloud Data Science & Machine Platforms is meant to be a quick visual guide to help you select the best platform for your needs. This introduction to the cloud data science & AI platforms provides a more in-depth review.
