OpenAI Turns ChatGPT Into Rival App Store
OpenAI's Dev Day announcements collectively position ChatGPT as a direct competitor to traditional app stores. The platform will now suggest apps within conversations, support interactive developer extensions, and allow users to sign in to third-party apps using their ChatGPT identity and AI usage allowance. An enterprise marketplace launches with over 30 partners including Adobe, Figma, Salesforce, and HubSpot. Meanwhile, autonomous AI agents called Dots will navigate the web and select apps on users' behalf, further reducing reliance on conventional app discovery through Apple or Google.
