Nvidia Buys Hugging Face; UK Robotaxis Launch
Nvidia is acquiring AI developer platform Hugging Face for nearly $13 billion, one of its largest deals ever. The New York-based startup, founded in 2016 and backed by Intel, AMD, and Amazon, hosts a vast database of open AI models that Nvidia hopes will help offset any slowdown in chip demand.
Meanwhile, Uber has launched the UK's first robotaxi service in London in partnership with Wayve, initially deploying 15 autonomous vehicles, each with a human safety driver on board. Over 100,000 London customers expressed interest in the service despite previous incidents involving driverless vehicles in US cities.
