Debian Allows AI Tools in Linux Development

Debian has voted to permit developers to use AI tools in the development, maintenance, and documentation of its Linux distribution. The new policy frames responsible AI use as a productivity booster. Rather than imposing special restrictions or exemptions, Debian's policy states that generative AI is held to the same standards already expected of all contributors, treating AI-assisted work like any other contribution.
