Anthropic launches tools to justify AI spending
Anthropic announced a suite of reporting tools giving enterprise customers detailed visibility into their Claude spending, including team output, costs, and workflow breakdowns. The launch follows strong financials, including an operating profit in Q2 and 900% net revenue retention. A Jellyfish report based on 276,000 customers found Claude Code responsible for nearly a third of all proposed code changes, with spending on Anthropic-based tools growing 10x this year. Despite competition from OpenAI's Astra model, Anthropic retains enterprise dominance, aided by incumbent workflows and forward-deployed engineering teams that make switching costly.
Even as token spending climbs, most of the Fortune 500 still aren't seeing major gains from AI.
