Barracuda Launches Tool to Block Employee AI Oversharing
Barracuda Networks has launched Barracuda AI Data Security, a product that monitors and controls what company data employees send to AI tools like ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and Gemini. The tool covers over 1,300 generative AI services and uses prebuilt detectors to block sensitive data including customer records, passwords, financial data and source code before it reaches external models.
Targeted at small businesses and managed service providers, the product also screens for prompt injection, jailbreak attempts and policy violations, with all interactions logged for audit purposes. A Barracuda survey found 49% of CIOs at mid-sized companies lack skills to govern AI already in use. The product launches in October.
