Amazon Takes Over Apple's Globalstar Stake
Amazon is set to acquire Apple's 20% equity stake in satellite firm Globalstar as part of its $11.6 billion deal to purchase the company. A new Amazon subsidiary will take over the shares and voting rights Apple obtained through a $1.1 billion agreement in 2024.
Despite the ownership change, Amazon confirmed it will maintain its relationship with Apple to continue powering satellite features in iPhones, including emergency services. Amazon also pledged technical improvements to signal strength and expanded satellite connectivity capabilities for consumers and businesses.
