Ai2 Launches OlmoEarth v1.3 Satellite Embedding Model

Ai2 released OlmoEarth v1.3, a satellite map embedding model that compresses a year of satellite observations into numerical fingerprints for 10-by-10-meter ground patches, with larger resolutions also available. The model draws from Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2, and Landsat imagery to help identify land cover types such as crops, forests, and mines. A new browser-based tool, OlmoEarth Embeddings Explorer, lets users analyze satellite data without GPU access or sign-in. Version 1.3 required 53% of v1.2's compute time and 18% of v1's, while cutting carbon emissions by 50% and 78% respectively.
