Adobe Acquires Topaz Labs to Boost AI Editing

Adobe is acquiring Topaz Labs, a two-decade-old AI image and video enhancement company known for its Emmy-winning production technology. Topaz's AI models, including Astra for video upscaling and Wonder for image enhancement, will be integrated into Adobe's Firefly app and other editing suites, while remaining available as stand-alone services. The deal reflects Adobe's push to retain users amid fierce competition from Canva and Blackmagic Design. Topaz's expertise in running large AI models on consumer-grade GPUs is expected to make Adobe's tools faster and more accessible. The transaction is set to close in the second half of 2026.
