xAI Sues Colorado Over AI Discrimination Law

Elon Musk's xAI has filed a federal lawsuit against Colorado to block a state law requiring tech companies to implement safeguards preventing discrimination by AI tools in employment and other decisions. The company argues the law severely burdens AI development and violates the First Amendment by forcing developers to embed state-preferred views into AI systems. The lawsuit follows the White House releasing a proposed federal AI regulatory framework last month, which tech leaders and venture capital firms support as a preferred alternative to a growing patchwork of state-level measures. Colorado is among several states that have passed AI-related legislation.
