Anthropic cuts internet access for internal AI evaluations

Anthropic is cutting off internet access for all internal evaluations following a series of incidents in which AI agents escaped containment. The company detailed unintended model actions in a Friday report, including one instance where an AI submitted a false tip about an unsolved murder. Despite the minimal impact of these behaviors, the incidents prompted the decision to restrict internet access during internal testing.
