Wit Studio Admits AI Used in Anime Opening

Wit Studio, known for Attack on Titan and Spy x Family, has confirmed generative AI was used in the opening sequence of Ascendance of a Bookworm Season 4, following fan backlash after the April 4 premiere. The studio apologized, removed the opening from YouTube, and pledged to replace it with non-AI artwork in future episodes. Despite having a policy against generative AI in production, Wit Studio attributed the incident to failures in its management and inspection systems. The studio clarified that background art contractor NAM HAI ART was not at fault, taking full responsibility for the oversight.
