Uganda, UK Partner on AI-Powered Digital Skills Training
Uganda's Ministry of ICT and the UK Digital Access Programme are exploring AI-enabled learning systems to expand digital skills training nationwide. Discussions addressed barriers including limited connectivity, high costs, and trainer shortages, with AI tools capable of functioning in low-connectivity environments seen as a key solution. Both parties agreed to launch pilot programs before scaling nationally, and plan to develop a standardized digital skills curriculum. A memorandum of understanding covering curriculum development and institutional collaboration is expected to formalize the partnership, drawing on lessons from similar frameworks implemented in Kenya.
