Soderbergh Uses Meta AI in Lennon Documentary

Steven Soderbergh has revealed that 10 percent of his upcoming documentary John Lennon: The Last Interview features AI-generated video footage, created in collaboration with Meta. The film centers on Lennon's final interview, promoting his Double Fantasy album with Yoko Ono, and uses AI to visualize abstract philosophical passages where archival material was unavailable. Soderbergh defended the approach, distinguishing between deceptive AI use and transparent creative application, comparing it to VFX or CGI. Sean Ono Lennon gave his blessing, suggesting his father would have embraced the technology. The documentary premieres at Cannes this month.
