Snowflake Builds Governed Data Layer for Enterprise AI

Snowflake is deepening its AWS integration to give businesses a governed data layer that supports AI workloads without forcing repeated data copying. The approach addresses what Snowflake's Zahir Gadiwan calls the real enterprise AI challenge: getting trusted data, business context, governance and scalable infrastructure working together in one operating model. Snowflake's Cortex Analyst and Cortex Agents add semantic context to data stored in Iceberg tables and Snowflake environments, letting AI reason in business terms rather than raw table structures. Integrations with Amazon Q and the Model Context Protocol allow natural language queries across data sources while preserving existing user permissions.
