Qualcomm Lands Massive AI Chip Deal With Amazon

Qualcomm has secured a major contract to supply Amazon with AI chips and optical networking hardware, including SerDes and DSP technologies for fiber-optic data center connectivity. The deal includes a stock warrant allowing Amazon to purchase up to 25 million Qualcomm shares worth $4 billion, with some shares contingent on Amazon buying up to $60 billion in Qualcomm products through 2036. The partnership covers customized silicon for large-scale AI data centers, with chips optimized for inference workloads across multiple chip generations. Qualcomm will also expand its use of AWS, deploying Amazon Bedrock to accelerate chip design through electronic design automation applications.
