Qualcomm Acquires VinAIs Generative AI Division - Qualcomm has acquired the generative AI division of VinAI, a Vietnamese AI research firm founded by ex-DeepMind scientist Hung Bui, to advance its AI capabilities. VinAI specializes in computer vision and language models, and the acquisition strengthens Qualcomm’s R&D and product development for smartphones, PCs, and automotive industries.
VinAI CEO Hung Bui will join Qualcomm, enhancing its edge AI ambitions. This move follows Qualcomm’s earlier purchase of Edge Impulse, underscoring its focus on AI innovations that operate independently of data center infrastructure.
