Publishers Sue Google Over Gemini AI Training
Major publishers including Hachette and Elsevier, along with authors, have filed a class action lawsuit against Google, alleging the company used copyrighted works to train its Gemini AI without permission. Plaintiffs argue Google misused books shared specifically for its Google Books and Google Play programs. An internal Google document cited in the suit reportedly warned that such use could result in fines of up to hundreds of billions of dollars.
