A group of OpenAI alumni have quietly launched Zero Shot, a new venture capital fund targeting $100 million, with its first close secured at $20 million. The five founding partners include former OpenAI engineers, a prompt engineer, a researcher-turned-VC, and a veteran from firms like 01A, Twitter, and Disney. The fund has already backed several startups, including Worktrace AI and Foundry Robotics. The partners say their insider AI knowledge also helps them identify what to avoid, expressing skepticism toward vibe coding platforms, embodiment video data companies, and most digital twin startups.
