OpenAI Signs 20-Year Lease for Massive Ohio Campus

OpenAI has signed a 20-year lease for a 10-gigawatt AI data center campus in Ohio, built on a former uranium processing plant. SoftBank's SB Energy will own and operate the site, backed by a $33 billion power plant and $4.2 billion in transmission lines. Nvidia is heavily involved, backstopping 4.25 gigawatts of capacity and potentially covering up to $105 billion in losses if the lease falls through. The campus, expected to host hundreds of billions in Nvidia chips, will come online in phases starting 2028, creating 35,000 construction jobs.
