OpenAI Partners With Trail of Bits to Patch Open Source

OpenAI has launched Patch the Planet, a cybersecurity initiative pairing its AI tools with security firm Trail of Bits to help open source maintainers find and fix code vulnerabilities. Security engineers will review findings, develop patches, and build reusable workflows before issues ever reach maintainers. The initiative addresses longstanding security weaknesses in open source software, which underpins much of the commercial software industry. It also appears to counter Anthropic's Mythos tool, which raised concerns about AI being used to identify and exploit existing vulnerabilities.
