OpenAI Launches Life Sciences AI Model GPT-Rosalind
OpenAI has unveiled GPT-Rosalind, a specialized reasoning model designed to accelerate life sciences research. Named after pioneering chemist Rosalind Franklin, the model aims to streamline fragmented workflows that slow drug development, a process that typically takes 10 to 15 years and billions of dollars.
Unlike general-purpose AI assistants, GPT-Rosalind is built as a domain-specific intelligence layer for researchers, helping bridge gaps between experimental design, software, and databases. OpenAI is also expanding its Codex plugin access on GitHub alongside this release.
