OpenAI Acquires Jony Ives Consumer Electronics Startup - OpenAI is set to acquire io Products Inc., Jony Ive's consumer electronics startup, for $6.5 billion in an all-stock deal. Ive, renowned for his designs at Apple, will collaborate with OpenAI to create AI-powered devices. The acquisition involves LoveFrom, Ive's design studio, which will gain an OpenAI stake and count OpenAI as a client.
The first jointly developed products are expected next year, aiming to move consumers beyond screens. This acquisition follows OpenAI's purchase of Windsurf, a developer tooling startup, for $3 billion.
