Nvidia Bets $1.5B on SoftBank's OpenAI Data Center
Nvidia is investing $1.5 billion in SB Energy, a SoftBank and OpenAI-backed data center developer, securing its role as sole compute infrastructure supplier at the Ports-Pike facility near Cincinnati, Ohio. Nvidia will also provide up to $105 billion in credit for the project, which could scale to 8 gigawatts.
The site, formerly used to enrich uranium for the U.S. nuclear arsenal, will host a 9.2 gigawatt natural gas power plant costing $33 billion. Rising construction costs and competition with export markets could triple natural gas prices in some regions.
