Nigeria Opens AI Hub to Lead Africa Digitally
Nigeria has launched an Artificial Intelligence University Innovation Pod at the University of Lagos, backed by the UNDP and Tertiary Education Trust Fund. The initiative aims to position Nigeria as Africa's AI leader by converting academic research into commercially viable solutions across agriculture, healthcare, education, and finance. Vice President Kashim Shettima's representative stressed that Nigeria must not remain passive in the global AI revolution. Officials called on the private sector to invest in talent, while state governments are already being urged to replicate and scale the model nationwide.
