Microsoft Unveils AI Cybersecurity Model, Cuts Costs Half

Microsoft launched MAI-Cyber-1-Flash, a custom-built cybersecurity model developed by its Microsoft AI division, embedded inside MDASH, a multi-agent platform for finding and fixing software vulnerabilities. The system scores 96% on CyberGym, a benchmark for AI reasoning over codebases, outperforming frontier models including Gemini and GPT while cutting costs roughly in half. Microsoft also introduced Project Perception, an agentic security system designed to coordinate defensive operations. The company argues the future of enterprise AI security lies not in the largest models, but in cost-efficient ones routed intelligently.
