Microsoft Pledges $10 Billion for Japan AI Infrastructure

Microsoft will invest $10 billion in Japan over four years to build AI data centers and related infrastructure. President Brad Smith announced the deal during a meeting with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, calling it a response to Japan's growing demand for cloud and AI services. The investment includes cybersecurity partnerships with Japanese government agencies and plans to train one million engineers with NTT and NEC. Microsoft will collaborate with SoftBank and Sakura Internet on the expansion, following a $2.9 billion investment announced in 2024.
