Microsoft, OpenAI Scrap Exclusive AI Partnership Deal

Microsoft and OpenAI have overhauled their landmark partnership, dismantling key exclusivity and revenue-sharing arrangements in favor of a looser, time-limited agreement. The restructuring is the most significant since Microsoft's initial $1 billion investment in OpenAI in 2019. Under the new terms, Microsoft will no longer pay revenue share to OpenAI for Azure-based model access. OpenAI will continue paying Microsoft a 20 percent revenue share through 2030, while gaining freedom to sell through rival platforms including AWS and Google Cloud.
