Microsoft: Don't Take Copilot's Advice Seriously
Microsoft quietly updated its Copilot Terms of Use on October 24, 2025, stating the AI assistant is "for entertainment purposes only" and warning users not to rely on it for important advice. This contradicts CEO Satya Nadella's own public endorsements of Copilot as a serious workplace tool.
A Microsoft spokesperson told PCMag the "entertainment purposes" wording is outdated legacy language from when Copilot launched as a Bing search companion, and promised it will be updated soon. The disclaimer drew comparisons to psychic hotline disclaimers from the early 2000s.
