Microsoft Bans DeepSeek App Over Security Concerns - Microsoft has banned employees from using the DeepSeek app due to concerns about data security and propaganda, pointing to the risk of user data being stored in China and influenced by Chinese propaganda. Microsoft President Brad Smith addressed these issues in a Senate hearing, noting that DeepSeeks data policies conflict with Microsoft's standards.
Despite these concerns, Microsoft has incorporated DeepSeeks R1 model into its Azure cloud service after resolving safety issues. However, the company remains cautious towards the DeepSeek app, even as it continues to allow other competing chat apps in its Windows store.
