Meta removes controversial scraping language from business terms
Meta updated its commercial terms of use to state it could use content from business account domains to develop, train, and maintain its products and services. Legal experts called it a remarkable provision that could allow Meta to scrape publisher websites and train AI models. Meta insisted the terms reflected no change in practice, and has since removed the language. The company said the crawling terms only ever applied to ads and business products, and that its use of web crawlers remains unchanged.
