Meta Raises Hyperion AI Campus Budget to $50B
Meta Platforms has expanded its Hyperion data center project in Richland Parish, Louisiana, raising the investment to over $50 billion, up from $27 billion last year and an initial $10 billion when announced in 2024. At full capacity, the campus will deliver more than 5 gigawatts of computing power, powered by 10 new plants built by utility Entergy Corp.
Factoring in chips and related equipment, the total cost reportedly rises to $250 billion. Hyperion will host Nvidia GPUs and Meta's own custom silicon, including the new MTI 500 accelerator. Meta has awarded $1.6 billion in contracts to Louisiana businesses and expects the campus to create over 1,000 jobs.
