Meta Bolsters AI with WaveForms Acquisition - Meta has acquired WaveForms, an AI audio startup, to enhance its Superintelligence Labs unit. WaveForms, valued at $160 million and founded just eight months ago, previously raised $40 million from Andreessen Horowitz. Co-founders Alexis Conneau and Coralie Lemaitre, along with other staff, are transitioning to Meta.
The startup aimed to solve the Speech Turing Test and work on Emotional General Intelligence, focusing on understanding self-awareness. This marks Meta's second major AI audio acquisition in a month after acquiring PlayAI. WaveForms' website is currently down following the acquisition.
