Meta Bets on India AI with Reliance Deal
Meta has struck its first AI infrastructure deal in India, partnering with Reliance Industries on a 168-megawatt AI-enabled data center in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The facility, powered by renewable energy and cooled with desalinated seawater, will be operational within two years and will support Meta's global AI computing needs. The deal deepens a relationship dating back to Meta's $5.7 billion investment in Jio Platforms in 2020. It comes as India rapidly emerges as a global AI infrastructure hub, with Microsoft, Amazon, Google, and OpenAI among the companies recently announcing major investments in the country.
