Anthropic Signs $19B Data Center Lease With TeraWulf
Anthropic has agreed to lease a TeraWulf data center in Hawesville, Kentucky for $19 billion over 20 years. The 790-acre campus, built on a former aluminum smelting site, will deliver 401 megawatts of computing power when fully operational in 2028, with initial capacity expected in late 2027. TeraWulf plans to invest $3 to $4 billion to build the facility, making the lease worth nearly five times its construction cost. The company also announced the $450 million sale of its stake in a separate Texas data center to partner Fluidstack, which previously partnered with Anthropic to build facilities in Texas and New York.
