Meta Automates Product Risk Assessments with AI - Meta plans to automate up to 90% of product risk assessments for apps like Instagram and WhatsApp using an AI system, according to NPR. Previously, human-led since a 2012 FTC agreement, these privacy reviews will now involve product teams using a questionnaire for AI-generated risk analyses and compliance requirements.
Meta asserts that only low-risk decisions will be automated, with humans addressing novel, complex issues. However, a former executive cautions that this shift could lead to higher risks due to possible oversight of negative impacts.
