Meta Acquires Voice Startup Play AI - Meta has acquired Play AI, a startup specializing in AI-generated human-like voices, to enhance its efforts in AI Characters, Meta AI, Wearables, and audio content creation. The entire Play AI team will join Meta, as confirmed by an internal memo. This move supports Meta's broader strategy to expand its AI capabilities.
To strengthen its position, Meta is recruiting specialists from OpenAI and has entered a deal with Scale AI. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed, although Bloomberg previously reported ongoing talks between the two companies.
