IBM Launches AI Operating Model for Enterprises
IBM used its Think 2026 conference to unveil a broad enterprise AI expansion centered on a new AI operating model, positioning it as the next step beyond early experimentation. CEO Arvind Krishna framed the shift as operational transformation, built around a four-part architecture of agents, data, automation and hybrid infrastructure.
Key announcements include an expanded watsonx Orchestrate multi-agent control plane, real-time data integration following the Confluent acquisition, enhanced security tools in its Concert platform, and general availability of Sovereign Core for air-gapped deployments. IBM is positioning itself as an AI integrator rather than a foundation model builder, partnering with Anthropic and OpenAI while emphasizing governance and hybrid cloud.
