Googles GenCast AI Surpasses Leading Weather Model - Googles DeepMind introduced GenCast, an AI model that surpasses the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts ENS, formerly the top weather forecast system. GenCast enhances weather accuracy by generating complex probability distributions with over 50 predictions. Trained with data up to 2018, it showed a 97.2% accuracy improvement in 2019 forecasts over ENS.
Google intends to incorporate GenCast into its search and map services and publish its forecasts for public research and use. This integration aims to leverage GenCast's advanced forecasting capabilities, making weather predictions more accessible and reliable for users and researchers.
