Googles Gemma AI Models Hit 150M Downloads - Since their February 2024 launch, Google's Gemma AI models have surpassed 150 million downloads, with over 70,000 variants on Hugging Face. Designed to compete with Meta's Llama, Gemma includes multimodal capabilities and supports over 100 languages.
Despite this growth, Gemma trails behind Llama, which reached 1.2 billion downloads. Both models face criticism for non-standard licensing terms, posing commercial risks for developers.
