Google Launches Two Gemini 3.1 Pro Research Agents

Google has released Deep Research and Deep Research Max, two AI agents that generate research reports on user-specified topics. Powered by Gemini 3.1 Pro, which scored 85.9 on OpenAI's BrowseComp benchmark, the agents access both public web data and internal company systems via MCP. Deep Research is optimized for speed and cost efficiency, while Deep Research Max prioritizes comprehensive output. Both agents can visualize data, connect to financial sources like FactSet and PitchBook, and support use cases in healthcare and finance. They are currently available via the Gemini API in public preview.
