Google Launches Offline AI Dictation App Quietly
Google has quietly released a free iOS app called Google AI Edge Eloquent, an offline-first dictation tool powered by Gemma-based speech recognition models. The app removes filler words, polishes text, and offers formatting options like Formal, Short, and Long. Users can toggle between local and cloud-based Gemini processing.
The app can import keywords and jargon from Gmail and tracks dictation stats like words per minute. While currently iOS-only, the App Store listing referenced an Android version with default keyboard support, though Google has since removed those references and noted an iOS keyboard is coming soon.
