Google Launches App for Local AI Model Use - Google has launched the Google AI Edge Gallery app, enabling Android users to download and run AI models from Hugging Face on their phones. The app will soon be available for iOS and supports offline tasks like image generation and text editing. It addresses privacy concerns and connectivity issues associated with cloud-based AI models.
The app includes a Prompt Lab for customizing tasks and invites developer feedback. It is an open-source project under the Apache 2.0 license, allowing users to access different models. Though less powerful than cloud alternatives, this app offers key advantages for personal privacy and accessibility.
