Google, Intel Sign Multiyear Data Center Chip Deal
Google will adopt multiple future generations of Intel's Xeon processors under a new multiyear partnership, deploying the chips across its cloud platform for AI and general-purpose workloads. Intel shares rose 4.7% on the announcement.
The deal also covers Intel's infrastructure processing units, with the two companies planning co-development of custom ASIC-based IPUs tailored for Google's data centers. The partnership is a significant win for Intel as it faces rising competition from Arm Holdings and others in the server chip market.
