Google Cloud expands its database portfolio with new AI capabilities

August 1, 2024: Google Cloud Adds AI Features to Database Portfolio - At its Tokyo Cloud Next conference, Google Cloud announced AI-focused updates to its databases, including Spanner SQL with graph and vector search support, and new Gemini-powered features in BigQuery and Looker. Spanner also receives a new tier-based pricing structure, while Bigtable gets SQL support. Additionally, Google Cloud now supports Oracle Exadata and Autonomous services, and adds open-source Apache Spark and Kafka for data streaming and real-time processing.
