Google AI books restaurant tables in seconds
Google has launched an AI tool that lets users book restaurant tables directly from its search bar, without visiting third-party platforms. The feature interprets plain-language queries, scans real-time availability and returns bookable options instantly, keeping the entire customer journey within Google's ecosystem.
The move threatens established players like OpenTable by intercepting users at the point of search. Listings come from partners including TheFork and Sevenrooms, but Google retains the customer relationship and valuable behavioural data. Britain serves as the initial testing ground before potential expansion into travel and live events.
